"The fighting to take Monte Cassino in early 1944 may be best known for the bombing of the Monastery, but it was mainly fought by infantry with armoured support, with many different AFVs being used on both sides. This is the companion volume to the Allied side reviewed in MM vol.44 No. 10 and covers a similarly wide variety of vehicles.

Many of the actions during the battle for Cassino and the Senger Line were between small groups of AFVs on each side. These are described in detail even down to naming the vehicle commanders. Types incolved ranged from SdKfz 251 half-tracks, Marder and Nashorn self-propelled guns, StuG III and IV and Panthers. Several Pantherturms were also part of the Senger Line defences, often knocking out several Allied tanks before themselves being destroyed. There were a few unusual items such as French Chenillette UE and some captured Shermans used in their original markings as well as one adapted by its new owners.

These are shown in period black and white photos from a variety of official and private sources. Captions give details of location, colours and markings. A selection of vehicles are also shown in the colour plates which in several cases show unit markings separately for better detail.

Plenty here to inspire modellers looking for information on vehicles in action or knocked out with at least one adapted for a very peaceful use after the fighting was over."

a very helpful, extensive guide.

This is one of the best books I have read on learning to access the wisdom we all carry within us. Although I have used workbook formats in the past that did not really inspire me, this one really did draw me into interacting with the author's ideas via the text. The format works well for learning intuition, since you work through the techniques chapter by chapter, rather than simply read about them. The book is very well-organized. It starts out discussing just what intuition is and how using your intuition can help you. It then proceeds to teach how to work with your inner self, both for practical problem solving and for spiritual growth. Chapter headings include Centering, Receptivity, Interpreting Images from the Intuitive Mind, and Achieving Mental Clarity. There are sections on working with your dreams, meditation, and using intuition to succeed in the workplace. This listing only scratches the surface of what the book offers however. The author has included, in addition to a very complete text, an end section with reading suggestions and additional resources. I have used the book for a number of years now, and every time I come back to it I gain something new. I highly recommend it.

Excellent resource and guide to a functional intuitive skill

Since I helped to write, edit and prepare the books I am somewhat biased. However, in this book you will discover how those "feelings" that often guide your decision making can be identified, developed to become and incredibly useful skill in both decision making and the creative process. Dr. Emery's "students" include some of the country's top executives and business leaders. Easy to use and follow.

A Fascinating Story of Love and Determination

This romance novel is set against the backdrop of pre-civil war times in Louisiana. As such, the love story is beset by the aura of danger for both the white plantation owner's daughter and the black slave who was seduced by her. This black novelist takes us into to the psyche of the Southern white heroine who is both an abolitionist and a women's rights activist. It is rich in historical narrative as well as insight into the relationships among women both black and white. The mysteries surrounding the ancestors of the founders of the first black United Methodist Church in Mansfield are at the core of this historical journey. For those of us with roots in this little country town, it answers many questions. Traditional romance novels are popular because the heroine always wins. But in this novel, the "victory" is an unexpected twist that will keep you engaged until the last page is turned.

Very good!

In 1978-9 worked through parts of Newman's 'Marine Hydrodynamics', corresponding treatments of lift and drag on a hydrofoil in Landau-Lifshits' Hydrodynamics, and Milne-Thompson's 'Theoretical Aerodynamics'. All these books complement and reenforce each other. Newman, like L-L, works from the equations of hydrodynamics while M-T bases his treatment largely on complex velocity potentials (for very high aspect ratio foils). I have only recently discovered McCormick's book and recommend it heartily as well because of it's emphasis on practicality and simple approximations (a 4-vortex approximation to a wing, e.g., very pretty!), and because he does not hand-wave but instead covers all the derivations thoroughly, if simply. I can understand that some engineers may complain about this book, but Prandtl would not have been one of them, I think.

Had to buy this book for an Aircraft Performance class. This book is straight trash. For all homework assignments I used three books: John Anderson's Fund. of Aerodynamics, James John's Gas Dynamics book, and a Fluid Mechanics book I had from the previous semester. Notice how I didn't use this book for anything beside the problem statements...

I already have created my own custom cocoon pattern but this book has given me some new ideas for creating more types, weights styles etc.

I love this pattern!! A wonderful gift item for newborns. Although very easy for Beginners, it is not one that can be done quickly so plan ahead. It's like making two, and the second part takes longer. I began with the shell in Pink and then again over the shell with white ruffles into each stitch. The ruffles alone took two skeins of white; the shell and ruffles in Simply Soft. The hat was done in all white Simply Soft, but am thinking of doing another hat in white with a lower row (or two) in pink. The Simply Soft yarn is stretchy, which may enable extended wear - depending on size and weight of infant. I'm looking forward to seeing this one on my newest granddaughter who is expected the end of September! I have a photo (not a video) that I'd love to share as it turned out lovely!
