A 'Blessing in Disguise' Christmas Present

In one day, Lindy gets locked in a store, loses her could-have-been boyfriend, gets fired, and has to take a job at a place she detests. Seems like Santa skipped over Lindy this year... or has he?

I've "purchased" several of Lisa Scott's "Flirts" when they were available as freebies and they're always a really good way to spend 45 minutes - and this story is no exception. As with the other Flirts, there's enough time to actually build a little romance between the hero and heroine - and I really think that's what sets these stories apart from other short stories out there. The hero and heroine are given some time to spend together, share some experiences together, and build a little foundation for a relationship. There's also a bit of time for character development which helps to further enrich the story.

In this story, I initially found Lindy to be a little shallow and `looking her nose down' at a certain thing in the story. I didn't know if I'd like her or not, but, as the story rounds out, you find that everything is not what it seems. In the end, the story was fun, humorous, sweet, and a little emotional. This is a great way to spend a few spare minutes during the holiday season.

Lindy's bad Christmas?

On her way to a blind date, Lindy stops off quickly to replace some ripped stockings. But the manager of an upscale boutique ends up stuck in the dressing room of the bargain basement store overnight. This costs her a dream job, but will it bring her a dream man? Holiday Rush is a mid-length short story, which gives enough room for good character development of both Lindy and Alex and enough time for the relationship to seem real. I'm a "Flirts" fan and I think this is one of my favorites of the whole series. However, I strongly suggest buying the entire "Holiday Flirts!" collection, because the stories are interconnected and while this stands alone, it's more fun to read what comes before and after.

Rush to read "Holiday Rush"

The first story in the new "Holiday Flirts" romantic short stories. Picture a "fashionista" locked in a discount store dressing room after the store closed. Sounds like a good start to a really fun story about finding love in an unlikely place. I have enjoyed all the "Flirts" but with the holidays coming up these are just what you need to get the season started. Download this and read it while you wait in all those holiday lines - it will surely reduce your stress, put a smile on our face and give you that warm feeling we all get around this time of the year. Enjoy.

Justinian and Theodora- a good source

Justinian and Theodora is a good book with lots of information. I personally think it should have more about Justinian's early life. It's also just a tad bit confusing at times. Other than that, though, it's a great source for information on not only Justinian and Theodora, but also other well-known and not-so-well-known characters of ancient Rome such as Anastasius, Belisarius, and many others. You would do well to read this narrative if you need information on Justinian and/or Theodora, or are just interested in ancient Rome.

Not much about Justinian or Throdora

I found out very little about the people themselves. The book sticks to the known timeline and actions as reported mainly by writers who didn't like them. It is a little like trying to understand President Obama by describing the history of the Affordable Health Act!

a solid history of the original "power couple"

_Justinian and Theodora_ is a bit dated (it was first published in 1987), but there is much to recommend about it. There are a number of photographs (over 100, several in color), and the historical context of Justinian's reign is both easy to understand and detailed. Where there are historical controversies (as with Procopius), Browning is intellecutally honest enough to state them, but also enough of an academic to evaluate them and explain his reasoning on the veracity of the statements.

I was particularly impressed with Browning's disucssion around the controversies within the Byzantine Empire of Justinian - religious as well as socio-economic, and the larger political pressures Justinian was facing as the Roman empire in the west was disintegrating. Theodora's role as the "power behind the throne" made for riveting reading as well - for me, she is among the most interesting women in history. I had hoped, however, that more depth had been given to the conflict in the east with the Sassanids; much more attention is given to Belisarius' conquests in north Africa and Italy which is common to histories of this period. I had also hoped that more light was shed on Theodora's role (if any) in Justinian's quest to reconquor these parts of the empire.

For those with a passing familiarity with the period, there is an abundance of information that is both fascinating and new here. The novice will similarly be impressed. A recommended read.

This is not only a very good index of great resources (all free)

I bought and read this book yesterday. I was just going to flip through the pages, but wound up reading the entire thing in one sitting. I plan to read it again after work today. This is not only a very good index of great resources (all free), but is also an exciting look at memory and mind training methods. While this book focuses on Russian, the methods should apply to any language one is learning. The text and examples are clear and concise. I highly recommend this book.

Walk and Talk Loudly

This is an unusual book written by a romantic, but don't let that put you off, because it's full of useful tips for "explorers" (as opposed to learners) of any foreign language. I really enjoyed the tone of this book; it was written with so much warmth and enthusiasm. When I read in the introduction that the most important factor in approaching a foreign language successfully is "love" I knew that I was on to a good thing. Yes, I'm a romantic too! But this would not be enough on its own. A guide to learning needs to be informative and show specific ways in which to learn vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, writing etc, all within the culture of the target language. Angelos Georgakis achieves this with amazing precision and brevity, and he makes it entertaining too. There are masses of practical tips, internet links etc, but my favourite chapters were on "visualization" and "walking and talking loudly". To anyone who is studying a foreign language, especially Russian I say this: Stop! Read this! It'll only take you a short while, and it might well change how you think about your work. And I think that you will enjoy it too.

This book is really great for beginner learner of Russian. The author describes an effective technique that utilises the current internet technology such as Google translate and YouTube. It is something that I would recommend for people without any previous Russian language experience!

First off I have to say, please don't let this be the end! There is so much more story to be told. Slade and Chelsey now have a child that every one is going to want to control. We have vampires and lycans and the possibilities are endless. I promise you that you will not be dissatisfied with the characters or the story that this author has spun.

I enjoyed the series very much but I wish it would continue because Chelsey and Melody never got their revenge for their family. their weddings should have been added to the story. Also there could be so more added to what became of Chelsey and Slade and their daughter. Also Melody and Liam need their own story, what happens next does she turn into a Lycan? Please continue to write more as I will love to read more about these characters. thanks for the great read

LOVED IT! LOVED THE BOOK, THE SERIES, THE NARRATION...ALL OF IT!!!

This is a great continuation to this series, and although I think it may be the last book in this story...I would like more! lol I love how the couples ended up and I really love that they had a vampire baby....this is a great PNR series, that will make you laugh and cry a little too...and definitely leave you wanting more! Great down to earth easy listening writing...and really good narration...I recommend!!!

This book is a real page turner. I could not find anything about the author though... It is an exciting introduction to our present reality in the style of Malachi Martin. For a thoroughly researched presentation of the roots and development of this attack on the Church get David Dionisi's Defeating the Brotherhood of Death from Amazon or at www.teachpeach.com. What an excellent and informative book

What an excellent and informative book! Although it is written in story form, it is factually based. It moves quickly and is very riveting. The facts of the story explain in detail what the world is experiencing today and why, and yet gives hope that it's not too late. This book is a must-read for everyone, whatever your Faith! Congratulations and thank you to the author for this amazing book!

This book is a Must read!! Especially for the times we are living in now. The author has brilliantly put all of the approved apparitions of the Blessed Mother and her messages to piece together the warnings she has been giving us over the last 100 years. Even though the book is fiction….all of the facts are here even up to the description of the antichrist. Reading this, we have a very good understanding of what the world is going to be up against.
